After an early career as a Chief Marine Engineer, Roddy became a qualified solicitor and set up his own legal practice in Percy Lane, Dublin 4 in 1993. He has since completed extensive professional development courses and has also developed Lawyer.ie as consumer law resource whilst continuing to practice.

Awarded by The Faculty of Notaries Public in Ireland and presented by the Chief Justice of The Supreme Court, the acts of a notary public have worldwide recognition in the matters of authenticating certain documents, attesting signatures & drawing up powers of attorney.

02. MASTERS OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN HEALTHCARE ETHICS AND LAW

This qualification was awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. Medical ethics and healthcare law is particularly relevant in the areas of medical negligence practice.

03. THE LAW SOCIETY OF IRELAND (CPD)

Since being enrolled as a solicitor in 1993, Roddy has also attained numerous professional qualifications including; Personal Insolvency Practitioner Certificate, Banking and Finance Law, Accredited Mediator as well as Employment Law & Advocacy Training.

OVER TWO DECADES OF SERVICE TO IRISH INSTITUTIONS

As well as being a practicing solicitor, Roddy has served on a number of State boards and has also lectured and written extensively in Irish media.

01. BOARD MEMBER OF THE PROPERTY REGISTRATION AUTHORITY OF IRELAND

The Property Registration Authority of Ireland oversees the Land Registry and Registry of Deeds. Period served was from 2007 until 2013.

02. CHAIRPERSON FOR MENTAL HEALTH TRIBUNALS

These are under the aegis of the Mental Health Commission and Roddy is also a solicitor advocate for patients under the Mental Health Criminal Law Review Board process.

03. GARDA DISCIPLINARY REVIEW TRIBUNAL MEMBER

Appointed by the Minister of Justice, this body concerned itself with recommendations for oversight of Garda disciplinary issues.

04. LECTURESHIPS IN UCD & LAW SOCIETY OF IRELAND

Included lecturing on Health & Safety Law in University College Dublin and Healthcare Law in the Law Society of Ireland.
